“Here we go again”. How many of you have said this in the last year? This could mean a lot of things but in my neighborhood, when I hear this it typically means someone is about to tell me how the housing bubble is about to burst (again). Full disclosure, I’ve said it myself! I mean it’s hard not to with the rate at which home prices have risen in metro Atlanta.
Which is why I was surprised to hear Dave Ramsey come out and say “prices aren’t coming down.” What a bold statement especially considering this will live on the internet forever! I laughed out loud because one of the calls he took was from a man in Atlanta (I’m pretty sure the man lived near Avalon based on his story). The man was kicking the tires on downsizing. Specifically, he wanted to sell his house and rent until prices came down. Dave told him that prices aren’t coming down (in his opinion) and painted the picture in the risk of that move. If the market doesn’t retract but instead just slows down (keeps growing but at a lower rate) than renting is could be very expensive.
I’m an arm chair quarterback when it comes to investing and real estate so I’m just going to post a clip of a video where he explains why he doesn’t think prices are coming down. What do you think? Feel free to comment and tag me.
P.S. I’m a #RamseyELP here in metro Atlanta. I lead a team of 10 licensed insurance agents specializing in auto, home and term life insurance. If you want to chat, or talk over the phone, don’t hesitate to reach out.
